Kinetic installation; Slide projector, 80 slides and a motorised mirror sculpture (Mirrors, textile, motor, paint brush, wood and metal). Dimensions variable.
Photo slides from family albums are projected via a mirror mosaic onto the wall. The mirror pieces are fastened to an elastic fabric screen, behind which a brush rotates, touching the back of the screen slightly as it passes. The image on the wall falls apart and comes back together. A dreamlike state of flux is created, where the familiar becomes mysterious and our interpretation of visual signs is challenged.
Made for the exhibition Valaistuminen - Enlightenment, Pohjoinen Valokuvakeskus, Oulu, November 2018. Exhibited in new versions in Espoo Visual Festival, Träskända manor, 2019, and the solo show Egoscope in gallery Sculptor, Helsinki, in 2020.
